چکیده

The potential of perennial bioenergy Miscanthus feedstock grown on heavy metal contaminated land was evaluated for the production clean renewable energy, chemicals, and recovered metals. Trace element analysis showed significant levels contaminants from harvested Miscanthus: 6.47 g Pb per kg biomass, 1.91 kg−1 Fe, 0.35 Zn, 26.59 mg Cu; along with other metals including Cr, Ni, As Cd. protic ionic liquid, 1-methylimidazolium chloride [H1Cim]Cl, extracted 99.3% biomass 96–98% Cu, Zn Cd, produced a cellulose pulp, which successfully saccharified into glucose an 81.5% yield. behaviour PbII in aqueous solutions [H1Cim]Cl that this liquid medium supported electrochemical reduction to Pb0 using voltage − 0.9 V, depositing recovering 91.5% solution onto electrode after 1 h electrolysis. Intensification process conditions were studied recycling solvent: 1st pretreatment, liquor recycled electrodeposited clean-up manage build-up subsequent pretreatment. electrodeposition step did not have negative impact performance pretreatment extraction enhanced by 20% compared had gone through any beforehand. This study opens up new valorisation possibilities integration highly biorefining, without need incinerate biomass.

Effect of pretreatment severity on the cellulose and lignin isolated from Salix using ionoSolv pretreatment.

The ionoSolv pretreatment is a new technique employing protic low-cost ionic liquids and has previously been applied to successfully fractionate switchgrass and the grass Miscanthus giganteus. This study investigates the effect of using the protic ionic liquid solution [N2220][HSO4]80% with two different acid/base ratios (1.02 and 0.98) at 120, 150 and 170 °C on the pretreatment outcome of the ...

EDTA-enhanced phytoremediation of lead contaminated soil by Bidens maximowicziana.

Phytoremediation is a potential cleanup technology for the removal of heavy metals from contaminated soils. Bidens maximowicziana is a new Pb hyperaccumulator, which not only has remarkable tolerance to Pb but also extraordinary accumulation capacity for Pb. The maximum Pb concentration was 1509.3 mg/kg in roots and 2164.7 mg/kg in overground tissues. The Pb distribution order in the B. maximow...

Advanced biorefinery in lower termite-effect of combined pretreatment during the chewing process

BACKGROUND Currently the major barrier in biomass utilization is the lack of an effective pretreatment of plant cell wall so that the carbohydrates can subsequently be hydrolyzed into sugars for fermentation into fuel or chemical molecules. Termites are highly effective in degrading lignocellulosics and thus can be used as model biological systems for studying plant cell wall degradation. RES...

Phytoremediation of heavy metal-contaminated land by trees--a review.

This paper reviews the potential for using trees for the phytoremediation of heavy metal-contaminated land. It considers the following aspects: metal tolerance in trees, heavy metal uptake by trees grown on contaminated substrates, heavy metal compartmentalisation within trees, phytoremediation using trees and the phytoremediation potential of willow (Salix spp.).
